Uploading Documents

Keeping project documents in Buildero means your team always has access to the latest plans, contracts, and permits — from any device, anywhere.

Supported File Types

You can upload any of the following:

  • PDF — contracts, permits, change orders, inspection reports
  • Images (JPG, PNG, WEBP) — site photos, drawings, product specs
  • Word / Excel (.docx, .xlsx) — scopes of work, material lists, schedules
  • DWG / DXF — CAD drawings (stored for download; previewed as PDF if converted)

Maximum file size is 50 MB per file. There is no limit on the number of documents per project.

How to Upload a Document

  1. Open the project and click the Documents tab
  2. Click Upload Document or drag and drop files onto the upload zone
  3. Select the file from your device
  4. (Optional) Add a Label such as "Signed Contract", "Electrical Plans Rev 2", or "Permit #1234"
  5. Click Upload

The document appears in the list with its name, label, file size, and upload date.

Organizing Documents

Use labels to keep documents organized. You can filter the document list by label to quickly find what you need. Useful labels include:

  • Contract
  • Plans
  • Permit
  • Change Order
  • Inspection
  • Warranty

Sharing Documents with Clients

Documents can be shared through the Client Portal. When you share a document, your client can view or download it without needing a Buildero account. To share:

  1. Click the three-dot menu next to a document
  2. Select Share with Client
  3. The document will appear in the client's portal the next time they log in

Downloading and Deleting

Click any document name to download it. To delete a document, click the three-dot menu and select Delete. Deletions are permanent — download a copy first if you need to keep it.

Version Control

When you upload a new version of an existing file, add a version note (e.g., "Rev 3 — updated window locations") so your team knows which version is current.
